1. Each group member must write their summary.
2. Once all members have posted their summaries, then you could all begin to "blog" (comment) about the summaries. Which topic interests you the most? Which topic would you like to research a bit more?
3. As a group, decide on a narrower "war" topic.

This is a test to make sure the blog is working correctly.
Still today, when women are employed as soldiers in the army, we tend to believe
that war is only for men. But it is untrue, since war is not only about combat but also
about the crucial developments in the history of feminism.
World War 1 played an important part in developing women's political rights. British women got the right to vote in 1918, even though it was age restricted to thirty, as a way to thank them for their huge participation to the war efforts. Even if women were not in the front with the men fighting, they had to take over the factories and the jobs that before the war, only men did.
World War 1 is understood to have been a positive event for feminism.
who posted: "Still today, when women..." ???
I thing that that is Georgia !
here is my article summary:
This article, called "How an antiwar protest group learned to hack Congress", was written by Alex Altman in the TIME magazine of September 23, 2013. It talks about a U.S. anti-war organization called Code Pink, created by Medea Benjamin in 2002, who's main goal is to protest against war and the actions that the United States make in countries that are currently at war. In this particular article, it is said that one of Code Pink's most recent actions was entering a Congress meeting and protesting against the United States' actions in Syria, darning slogans such as: "Stop Bombing Syria", "Americans Say No War", or "Stop CIA Death Squads" on pink posters. one of Code Pink's techniques to raise awareness is also to video tape all of their protests or actions. The articles says: "Code Pink shows up to confront the powerful whenever it can find a camera". Still, Code Pink respects perfectly the law and the First Amendement, so Congress lets the activists protest in the midst of their meetings.
i like your summary Ito
It s well written and clear
Nathalie you really need to post your summary!!!!!
« The War on Waste » is an article written by Aleen Sirgany on February 11th, 2009 on CBS Evening News . It talks about the waste of money needed for military use and of the complaints caused by this effect .
Donald Rumsfeld (Secretary of Defense) complains that money wasted by military causes problems and he declares war. He says that he will change this, but Bush stops him indirectly by saying $48 billion will be given to military defense. To proove he his right, Rumsfeld asked people for their opinion about this.
Jim Minnery (Defense Finance and Accounting Service) said :
« We know it is gone, but do not know what they spent it on. ». Minnery is risking his job by asking his director about the missing money from a defense agency's ballence sheets but his director gives him a non-response : « Why do you ask me this ? ».
Department of Defense Analyst Franklin Spinney put up headlines of « accounting games » because he is one of the many who believe the waste of money for military is getting worse.
In conclusion, a lot of money is given for military use and probably for the right reasons but we do not know where it goes and on what it is spent .
I'm sorry I put this up so late !
your summary is really good Nathalie!!!!
i think it's interesting!
ok so ur summaries are great, so we got to get ok on the subject: Syria?
yes thats a good subject in which we could talk about the different problems like the ones we talked about in our summaries!
that's fine with me!!
For each summary article, how does the author feel about the issue? Remember, when you are writing a summary article you are writing about someone else's opinion.
Georgia, are you the anonymous person? Did you write the first summary article? You didn't write your name.
What is your final research question?
